Greetings from the library of the First Christian Reformed Church of Oostburg. My name is June Ver Velde, and I have been th e church librarian since 1973. I was employed by
Mead Public Library in Sheboygan from 1967 to 1991. Since my retirement I’ve had more time to devote to the church library.
The library, located just north of the pastor’s office, is a busy, happy place where approximately 100 books and videos are checked out each Sunday.
We have about 4,000 books on our shelves, 2200 in the children’s section and 1800 in the adult section. Children’s books include Bible stories, biographies, lots of good
Christian fiction, including the complete collection of Laura Ingalls Wilder books, story books, and pictures books for even the very young. The adult section includes fiction,
Christian living, biographies, and reference. The newest books are on separate shelves. There are 239 videos available for both adults and children. Audio and video tapes of
Sunday services can be checked out.
Books may be checked out for a two-week period and videos for one week. Visitors are welcome to use the library during the week for reference or browsing, and books may be checked out by leaving the checkout
cards with the the name and due date on the library desk. If there are any questions, please call me at 920-564-2911.
